Why Cleaning?

The dirt must go out! If you want to store your grain in order to sell it at the right time, you cannot avoid pre-cleaning. This also applies to feed grain. For one thing, it makes no sense to store the garbage. After all, it is nothing but waste, which makes up 1-3% of the harvest weight. On the other hand, high-quality storage is simply impossible without cleaning! NEUERO helps you in this way.

Garbage Creates Drawbacks

Fusaria is one of the most common harmful fungi in grain and corn worldwide. Toxic metabolic products (mycotoxins) are already deposited during harvesting: the classic (black) garbage such as dust, herb stems, weed plant seeds, awns, husks etc. Without cleaning, they arrive at storage thus leading to considerable quality losses. The grain then not only loses its germinability and vitality, even the entire stored harvest is destroyed in the worst case.

Wasted Energy

A lot of energy can also be wasted for garbage. It makes more difficult to aerate and dry the grain, since the heterogeneous mass is poorly ventilated and unevenly dried.

The accumulation of straw particles, awns, husks, etc. can also create moisture pockets, which leads to problems even in ventilated stores. Moisture nests can occur especially when loading from higher heights, since uncleaned grain separates when it falls and the sediment forms nests. Removing moisture from the nests also consumes energy.

Suffering Feed Quality

Especially those who “only” store grain for feeding should absolutely clean it beforehand. Because feed grain contaminated by fusarium or mycotoxins has a negative impact on fertility of sows and fattening performance. It was also found that pigs do not like feed grain contaminated with dust and awns. Cleaning also guarantees a higher feed intake.

Cleaning Pays Off

Pre-cleaning is the minimum standard! It is essential for compliance with the hygiene regulations. It also makes resale easier or even makes it possible because pre-cleaning has become a requirement for many customers. The costs for cleaning therefore pay off both in terms of marketing and in terms of feed quality. And as it was already said, the cleaned grain lowers energy consumption when drying and aerating. Depending on the process, up to 10% energy can be saved. There are also savings when storing with acid. Since garbage also binds part of the acid, these costs are unused without cleaning.

Cleaning Requirements are Different

The level of cleaning required depends on current harvesting conditions and combine harvester. In order to avoid a standstill during the storage phase, the cleaning performance should be matched to the combine harvester and the conveyor system should also be considered.

Sometimes a simple pre-cleaning using pneumatic separator is enough. Often, cleaning is carried out more intensively. And more and more farmers also clean the grain when it is unloaded before milling or sale. Under mechanical stress during loading and storage, remaining awns and husks are released and the dust content also increases.

With the NEUERO cleaning technology you are on the safe and clean side! Because we have an appropriate appliance for every cleaning requirement – regardless of whether you want to use it mobile or stationary, whether you need low or high capacities.
